Dear Wagon Wheel Parents:
My name is Ronna Vladic and I am excited to be serving as the PTA President for the 2009-2010 school year. Wagon Wheel Elementary has the most amazing teachers, staff and parents, who I am fortunate to work with in reaching a common goal for our students. We are all here to ensure the growth and success of our children. On behalf of the PTA I would like to welcome all the new families, as well as the returning families, and invite everyone to become a volunteer. Please take the time to scroll through the information on the Wagon Wheel PTA website. (www.wagonwheelpta.com)
HOW TO STAY INFORMED: We are fortunate to have Ms. Kathy Parker as our principal and we have seen great accomplishments under her guidance. One of the quickest ways to get plugged in to the happenings at Wagon Wheel is to sign up for the Principal’s List Serve Communications. Go to the District website at www.capousd.org and click on the yellow “Sign up for school email here” bar. Select “Wagon Wheel” from the drop down list under “Elementary”. Enter your email address and name then click the “Subscribe” button. That is all there is to it! Another way we will be passing information along to you is through our PTA e-news. Please take a moment to log on to our website at www.wagonwheelpta.com and click on the “sign up for e-news” link.
Each Friday, your child will be bringing home a “Friday Folder”. These folders were purchased by the PTA and contain important PTA, School, and Classroom related material. Please take the time each week to review them for PTA and school updates. Over the course of the year, you will see several flyers to support your PTA. Many are “silent opportunities” such as E-scrip registration, Alberston’s, and Von’s/Pavilion’s cards. Registration for these programs is secure and only needs to be performed once for Wagon Wheel to continue to receive benefits year-round.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES SPONSORED BY PTA: It is the goal of our current PTA to continue to enrich all Wagon Wheel students with programs and services. Our Board has worked closely with our Principal and Teacher Representatives to ensure that our funds are utilized in meeting current State curriculum criteria while including specific desires of the teachers. A few of the programs funded by PTA include: Meet the Masters Art Program, Grade Level Assemblies, Red Ribbon Week, Riley Park Field Trips, Musical Production, Book Fairs, Community Outreach Programs, Legislation Representatives, and the Reflections Program. PTA funds also provide for the call sick line, bottled water in the portables, Health & Safety, Student Planners, and school-wide Friday Communication Folders.
JOIN PTA! Included in this packet is the Wagon Wheel PTA Membership/Directory form to join our PTA. When you join PTA, you will receive a Student Directory to aid in planning play dates, birthday parties, carpools or homework help. You may join the PTA at any point but we need to have your form completed by Friday, October 3rd to be included in the PTA Directory. When you join us, know that your money will be well spent on behalf of all of our children.
You will also find a “Volunteer Opportunity” flyer in this packet. Look it over and see if anything catches your eye......there are NEVER too many volunteers!
FUNDRAISERS: FUNDRAISERS:
We are half way through the 2009-2010 school year and getting ready for our spring fundraisers. Please be on the look out for the upcoming events.

There are so many ways to make a difference at Wagon Wheel, from collecting box tops, signing up for eScrip, to supporting our fundraisers, or volunteering your time in the classrooms or helping with a PTA event.
It truly does take a village!
Don’t sit this one out.....make this the year you not only join PTA...
but get involved!
I look forward to seeing you on campus!
